I finally had time to take a deeper dive into the issues plaguing my NBA and NHL betting reports. Even though the season stats on the NHL report are not great (25-17, with a 1.5% ROI), I now feel comfortable with it. The NBA report, despite slightly better numbers, is still a work in progress. I would advise playing only 4-star games and no totals.
In both instances, the ratings matter, so scale your bets accordingly.
On the plus side, college basketball has now started, and I’m downright giddy about the algorithms for that sport — OK, maybe not giddy, but pleased. However, very few teams have a Bet Rating yet, so the wagering will have to wait.
Tonight, I do have a puck line play on the Buffalo Sabres (7-6), who take on the red-hot Vegas Golden Knights (12-2). These teams have met just eight times since 2017, and the home team has won seven of those meetings! Plus, I think Buffalo is much better than its record suggests, and the Sabres are a 50% overlay on my fair odds line (granted, it’s not a fair odds line in the classic sense, but that’s still significant).
BET: BUFFALO +1.5 GOALS AT -180 OR BETTER
